Centerless Grinding Position
Precision Grinder Set-up Operator
Dunham Products, Inc. is looking for a dedicated
employee to fill a fast-paced and demanding position as a grinder set-up
operator. The company is
looking for an experienced set-up operator who loves to be challenged by
making close tolerance parts, in compliance with customer requirements
and safety guidelines.
Dunham Products, Inc. specializes in the complete
manufacture of aerospace and nuclear fasteners.
Their customers include military, aerospace, automotive, mining,
and manufacturing companies.
The company offers extensive machining and production capabilities from
prototyping to full manufacturing, and a wide variety of secondary
operations including centerless grinding, thread rolling, knurling,
drilling and CNC turning.
Position
Overview:
- Set-up and operate centerless grinders to
perform a wide variety of difficult grinding operations to exacting
tolerances and interrelated dimensions.
- Plan methods and grinding sequence and select
and dress wheels and fixturing
Specific
Responsibilities:
- Set-up and operate one or more precision
grinders to produce high quality finished piece parts to exacting
tolerance.
- Determine the set-up, grinding procedures,
sequences, and appropriate grinding wheels.
Select speeds and feeds, according to material, to achieve
optimum results.
- Dress wheels; check dimensions to tolerances
and make adjustments to maintain standards.
Check the finished work to specific dimensions on job
routings and blueprints.
- Grind parts that have been run on C.N.C,
secondary, and heat treated operations.
Grind to +/-.0005 with minimal scrap.
- Detect faulty operation or defective
materials; correct or report to supervisor.
- Make or assist in making machine repairs.
Report unusual conditions to supervisor
- Maintain a clean work environment, including
surrounding areas and equipment
- Thoroughly and accurately maintain job and
production records.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a set-up
operator in a close tolerance manufacturing environment
- Able to accurately read and interpret
blueprints and job routings
- Must have the ability to solve tooling and
set-up problems with minimal technical supervision.
- Proficient in the use of all precision
measuring equipment from plug gauges to electronic measurement
tools.
- Must possess good math skills
